Public Consultation for Fixed Wireless Broadband Licensing in Iraq
CMC, the telecom regulator in Iraq, launched public consultation on the granting fixed broadband licenses in Iraq.  As part of its effort to increase broadband penetration and to create an effective regulatory environment for this vital sector, CMC has contracted Eicon Detecon, to prepare the consultation document.  The Call for Input is an invitation to stakeholders having interest in broadband, to present their views on developing the market, on the allocation of spectrum in general, and on the licensing framework.  The document addresses the legislative framework that empowers CMC to issue licenses, and to allocate spectrum. The document outlines current allocations of the 2.3GHz and 2.6GHz bands in Iraq, and examines bands available for FWB, while keeping in mind current and future requirements of MBB, hence a number of IMT bands are addressed: 450MHz, 800MHz, 1.5GHz, 2.3GHz, 2.6GHz, and 3.5GHz.
